Busy week

We had a busy week full of lots of fun activities. The shower at Nick's work was very nice. The cake was delicious and had the cutest little duckies on top...they'll bring lots of fun during bath time in the near future! I can't believe how many people came and how generous everyone was. Thank you!

When Ryan was about 3.5 weeks old, we got a letter in the mail that said "Your baby did not pass the hearing screening in one or both ears. Upon discharge from the birth center you should have received a letter informing you of the need to schedule an appointment for a repeat hearing screen when your baby is two weeks of age." Not only did the letter arrive during the peak of colic (so we'd had no sleep and were completely stressed out), but this was the first we'd heard anything about his hearing screening. No one said ANYTHING about him not passing any of the tests they administered at the hospital. Needless to say, Nick found me reading this letter with tears streaming down my face in the kitchen. I admit I have a penchant for the dramatic, but what I read was "Your baby is deaf and he should have been retested two weeks ago." It obviously wasn't that big of a deal to get him tested at two weeks because they couldn't even get him into their schedule until Thursday. The good news is that he must have just had some fluid in his ear or something because this time he passed with flying colors. Crisis averted!

We ended the week with our very first playdate. It was freezing cold and blustery, but it was so great to see the ladies and introduce Ryan to all his new friends. Michelle Flannery was nice enough to host the fun and make a delicious lunch for the Brittons, Boylans, and O'Connells. We also heard some fun news--the Flannerys and Boylans are expecting baby #2 this summer. CONGRATS!! Ryan had lots of fun and we even managed to sneak in a quick picture of all the kids.
