At four months old, here's an update on Ryan's life:
* Still goes to bed at 7:30pm, but isn't exactly sleeping through the night. I always heard that when babies go to daycare they get them on a schedule right away. Not the case here. He's actually reverted back to not sleeping all that well at night or napping. Daycare has been really supportive of trying whatever they can to get him to nap during the day and sleep at night. It's gotten better in the last couple of days...hopefully that keeps up!
* Loves to laugh. He's really ticklish around the neck/armpits and laughs hysterically when you change his clothes. It's adorable and always makes me start laughing.
* His reflux is still awful. It's a very rare day that I pick him up from daycare and he's still in the same clothes I dressed him in that morning. There's usually at least two outfit changes per day. Even the poor teachers at daycare have had to drive home during the day so they could change clothes because he's spit up all over them too. We're going to see what the doc says next week. The spitting up doesn't seem to bother him, he never fusses or cries, but I swear he spits up 3/4 of every meal. We'll see how he's gaining weight.
* Like I mentioned, he's no longer a regular napper, but he still wakes up smiley and happy.
* He still sleeps the best in a swaddle, although I think he's probably getting old enough that we shouldn't be swaddling him anymore. We've tried to switch him to sleeping in sleep sacks, but he wakes up an awful lot and never sleeps all that well. Anyone who's ever seen him sleep knows he moves A LOT (thrashing his head, swinging his arms, etc.) and all that movement usually wakes him up. The last couple of days, he falls asleep at night swaddled, but we always find him hours later with an arm wiggled out and he's woken himself up.
* Still loves to "stand", loves sitting in the Bumbo, and has a ball in the Johnny Jump-Up.
* Loves to go on walks outside in the warm(er) weather in his awesome stroller. Sunglasses and snowsuits necessary this time of year.
* Has started reaching for toys and bats at the bumble bee above his papasan. Likes to hold toys and gets frustrated when he can see them, but they're just out of reach.
* Daycare is going well. Having Nick at home for that first couple of weeks back at work was really a nice transition for me. We both like his teachers at daycare and they've been really sweet about giving detailed daily updates and offering help if we ever need it (especially with trying to get him to sleep through the night.) He's got two buddies that are about two weeks older than he is. I have a feeling they're going to be quite a force to be reckoned with in the coming years.
Loving bath time...although this picture looks like he's not so sure. Don't think he was anticipating a picture being taken.
Getting ready to get a moisturizing baby massage from Dad.
