Four Month Doctor's Appointment

Ryan had his official "four-month well-baby visit" with the doc. Turns out his reflux is causing a bit of concern. He's lost a little weight so they told us to start him on solids to help settle his stomach and add to his caloric intake (I wish I had to find ways to add calories to my diet...) He is now 14 lbs & 6 oz, which puts him at the 50th percentile. He's 25.5 inches tall and that's the 75th percentile. His head is still a measly 16.25 inches, which lands him right at the 25th percentile. It's been almost a week since we've started the rice cereal. At first he seemed to take to it right away and understand how this whole "eating thing" works. The pictures below are from the first "meal." Unfortunately, we've since learned that was a fluke and mealtimes aren't the special, easy experience that the first one was. He's really good at spitting the rice cereal right back out and his other favorite trick is to follow the spoon into his mouth with his hands. He can figure out how to chew his hands, but not the cereal. Everything and everyone gets messy and we're all usually crabby by the end of the bowl (which by the way, is only a teaspoon size portion.) You really wouldn't think eating a teaspoon of food would be that complicated...leave it to Ryan to pull that off!
