State Fair 2011

It was like a scene from a movie: we walked up to the bus at the park & ride just as it's pulling away from the curb.  Typical.  Average wait for a bus to the State Fair at the park & ride=15 minutes.  Wait time for the O'Connell family, who might have the worst luck on earth=70 minutes.  No kidding.  Over an hour wait time, which equals approximately 2 weeks in toddler time.  And BONUS, Ryan didn't take a nap for whatever reason that day either.  He instead chose to spend his time reading books and chatting away to himself in his room.  He did pretty well until about 10 minutes before the bus arrived and he tripped and fell and scraped his knee.  WORLD WAR THREE commenced.  Nick and I handed him back and forth as we tried to reason with the most unruly beast known to man: a sleepy toddler.  First he didn't want a band aid, then he did, then he wanted it off immediately, but then it hurt too much to take off.  I looked at Nick and said we needed to just pack it up, cut our losses, and go home.  Ever the optimist (ha!), Nick talked me into forging ahead with the expedition.  The bus came and we were off.

Scene from the park & ride.  Nick is ready to kill me for taking this picture at this point, hence the back of the head shot.

Ryan thought the bus was pretty cool, and who doesn't love a little Dippin' Dots??!!
The highlight of the trip had to be the giant slide.  Nick had been talking it up for days, so Ryan was ready for the fun.  Nick got his work out hauling Ryan up all those steps, but the look of pure joy on Ryan's (and Nick's) face when they were coming down was worth it!

All Ryan could say at the end was "AGAIN, AGAIN!!!"  All in all, it was a really good time and I'm glad we went after all.  The weather was great, the food was delicious, and I couldn't beat the company I was in! :)
