Rough estimates on height and weight: our bathroom scale shows about 18.5 lbs and trying to measure the little wiggle is tough, but it looked like about 29" tall.
A little update on 7 month happenings:
* We've started letting him play with a sippy cup with the hope that eventually he'll figure out how it works. So far he just chews on the spout and hasn't really gotten anything out yet.
* LOVES peek-a-boo.
* He's always been a good fruit/veggie eater, but strangely enough, he LOVED prunes. Weird. Seriously--he'd make a "yum!" sound every time I put the spoon in his mouth! When you're first introducing babies to solids, you have to feed them the same food for several days in a row to rule out any allergies...you can imagine what several days of prunes did to the little guy. :) Daycare literally begged us to switch to a different food after he had a blowout so bad it was running down his leg. Ha! Sorry if that's TMI!
* Loves to sit so much that he doesn't dig tummy-time or back-time as much because he doesn't have the same freedom. We have to make him suffer through some tummy/back time though so he eventually learns to crawl (not rushing that though!!)
* Still loves all people, kids, and really digs animals. We knew he loved dogs (with our family, you pretty much have to!), but Ryan and I had a brunch date with my good friends Anne and Erik and they have kitties and Ryan and Hunter couldn't get enough of staring at each other. I think both were thinking "what ARE you???" Hunter better get used to it because there is a baby boy expected in that house this November. Can't wait for Ryan to have another friend soon!
* Still loves making 'raspberries' and he seems to take special enjoyment in doing it with a big mouthful of food right in my face when he's sitting in his high chair. Nice.
* Really enjoys his exersaucer. He runs circles constantly in it, but I don't really think it's helping him learn to walk because we have carpet in our living room, so the only way he can get it to move is by throwing his weight forward and then it starts moving so he can walk the rest of the way. Throwing your body forward isn't the best idea when starting to walk. I see many urgent care visits in our future.
* Speaking of urgent care, we made our first trip last Sunday night. The little guy slept from 1:30pm-5pm, so I knew something wasn't quite right. When he finally got up, he had a temp of 102.4. We made the trip to urgent care (which is conveniently enough just our regular doctor's office) and it turns out he has an ear infection. Of course kids only get ear infections on Sunday nights when there are no pharmacies open...except for in the middle of the HOOD. We made the trip out to Snelling and University to get his meds (and kept all windows and doors locked and tried not to make eye contact...ha! Just kidding. Kind of.) Now he's on the mend and feeling much better. Thank goodness!
* Apparently ear infections have been linked to pacifier use (doctors have no idea why...), so we're attempting to cut that habit. He really doesn't use one that much, so hopefully it won't be too difficult to go cold turkey.
* Can pick up the banana puffs (which are so delicious, BTW), but can't figure out how to open his fist and get them into his mouth. We had a slight choking incident, so I'm kind of nervous to keep trying the puffs, but I give it a shot every couple of days.
* Says "dad," "hi," and "Netanyahu." No kidding. So we think he loves his father, is a social kid, and will someday broker peace in the middle east. Or maybe he's just babbling. You decide.
* Still no teeth, but we have lots of chewing on things and LOTS of drool.
* He doesn't roll from back to tummy, so though he moves around in his crib at night, he just rolls in circles like the hands of a clock. We never find him on his tummy when he wakes up, but he's on his side or on his back in a completely different spot in the crib than where you left him the night before. During his midnight acrobatics, sometimes he kicks or touches the crib entertainer and turns it on. There have been a few nights that Nick and I have been awoken by the sound of "rock-a-bye-baby" coming through the monitor, but he sleeps through the music and lights every time.
We are really loving the age he is right now. He's so much fun to be around and loves new people and places. We're pretty blessed to have such a great, happy baby! Must be great parenting...or luck. Semantics. :)
